The Fed in films

Think you’re going to the movies for a little escapism? If you want to avoid more bad news, you may want to skip the commercials — but by doing so, you may also miss an important warning about possible scams.

The Federal Reserve has produced a short commercial about foreclosure, and how to prevent getting ripped off. The public service ad is part of a new consumer outreach effort by the Fed.

Concerned that too many foreclosure predators are using direct mail and late-night infomercials to charge for services that you should be getting for free, the Fed is releasing the ad on April 10th in the seven states hit hardest by foreclosure rates: California, Florida, Ohio, Georgia, New York, Michigan, and Arizona.

“It shouldn’t hurt to get help,” — the Fed’s slogan is right. If you’re looking for resources regarding foreclosure, you can visit the Federal Reserve’s Web site.
